Vovkov mlin (Vovk Mill)

»By the clear stream there is a mill,« says a well-known Slovenian folk song. Along the stream that marks the border between the municipalities of Velenje and Dobrna, as many as 13 mills once operated. Today seven still stand, and among them only one – Vovkov mlin – still grinds grain into flour. This roughly 400-year-old mill defies the ravages of time and destructive floods and preserves its exceptional vitality and historical value.

At the farm where Vovkov mlin stands, you will be gladly welcomed by Karel Pungartnik or his son Drago. They will show you a rich collection of milling tools and teach you to recognise various grains, such as wheat, spelt, buckwheat and oats. In addition, they will lead you across a picturesque little bridge over the babbling stream and open the doors of the mill for you. There you will be able to see the workings of the milling mechanism and the miller's room, and learn how the life of millers once unfolded.

Take the time to visit, listen to the hosts' stories and surrender to the magic of this historic place. Your experience will certainly be richer and full of unforgettable impressions.
