This picturesque cave system, in the past named Luknja, lies on the right bank of the Savinja, about 100 metres above the river bed.
The cave is 599 metres long in total and 91 metres deep, and a branching system of passages leads into its interior. It was formed in dark grey Triassic limestone, most likely due to the lateral seepage of the Savinja River.
The cave has the status of a natural value of national importance and is protected as a natural monument.
The cave is exceptionally interesting above all for its rich speleofauna, its branching system of passages and the siphon lake at the bottom of the cave. An old footpath between Luče and Solčava runs through the outer part of the cave – this part of the cave can be viewed even without a flashlight.
The cave contains interesting sediments, and bones of cave bears as well as representatives of rare beetles and bats have also been found there. A large sloping passage leads to the siphon lake at a depth of 83 metres from the entrance.
