Logarska Dolina Landscape Park

 Logarska Dolina Landscape Park

The Logarska Dolina Landscape Park is beautiful in every season. It contains over 40 registered natural values, from waterfalls, rock towers, hollows and rock shelters to glacial boulders, trees of exceptional dimensions, flora and fauna. The Rinka waterfall is among the highest waterfalls in Slovenia (90 m). In the park there is a habitat of the rare lady's slipper orchid (Cypripedium calceolus), our largest orchid, and some endemic plant species also thrive there: the Julian mouse-ear (Cerastium Julicum), the scarlet leek (Allium kermesinum) and the Kamnik ox-eye daisy (Leucanthemum lithopolitanicum). In the wider area of Logarska Dolina the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos) nests, and the valley is also a habitat of the peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus).

Logarska Dolina is one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys in Europe. The trail through Logarska Dolina is a nature and ethnographic trail that leads through wonderful corners of preserved nature and culture of the Logarska Dolina Landscape Park. Among them are the second source of the Savinja, mighty rock boulders, a herder's and a charcoal burner's hut, a hunting hide, a giant juniper and many others, while the highlight of the trail is at the Rinka waterfall.

About a kilometre past the spot where you enter Logarska Dolina, on the right, before you cross the bridge, you will notice wooden direction signs. For the 7 km long trail you will need about 2 to 2.5 hours (one way). You can join the trail at several points along the valley and thus shorten the trip as you wish. For a more detailed explanation and more information about the sights along the trail you can also hire a guide.
