Thank you to everyone for the "Saleska Tourism Day" event, which outlined the directions for developing the Saleska Valley tourist destination. We reviewed the documents Slovenian Tourism Strategy 2022-2028 and Digital Transformation Strategy 2022-2026. Also of interest is the study Tourism Development and Marketing Strategy for Velenje and Šoštanj 2022-2027, whose summary we reviewed as well. This study goes a step further towards making the direction of the location's development concrete, and towards the local community's task of encouraging the development of the tourism and supporting offer that will make the destination's success possible. In any case, all these studies were made with the aim of clarifying the tourism development strategy, whether at the national, regional or local level, and they all follow the "Top down" method.
In developing the computer-based information support, we took the reverse approach. We looked at the registered providers of goods and services at the municipal level that are active in the AJPES register and located in the territory of individual municipalities. Only by monitoring the development of the actual offer and working with providers can a good destination offer be achieved. We are aware that alongside the offer of legal entities, it is also necessary to present natural assets, cultural heritage, the offer of public institutions, events and everything that shapes a destination. Our thinking came down to an entirely concrete level and a "Bottom up" approach.
A destination's real offer is made up of actual providers in the field, in real time. All data must be verifiable and credible, and have responsible information keepers who look after it. The basis of our thinking is described in our reflection "The Decision Point Is Also the Tipping Point". It describes how to connect the offer in the field into a destination offer.
In developing information support for individual and destination offers, we decided to provide a safe place where we keep control over the data, where each piece of data is recorded only once and is also updated in that same place. Such data has an owner and a person responsible for its credibility. We set up an information cloud over the Savinjska statistical region, where data can be entered and edited separately for each municipality. The system keeps everything aligned with current AJPES data, also displaying the provider's status and the date of the last update. The information cloud of the Savinjska region also has its own portal, "SKL - Savinjska.KupujLokalno.si". Each provider appears on various offer maps, which are grouped by industry or keyword. There can be many of these offer maps, and they can be created by any digitally connected provider with a registered place in the information cloud. A system has been developed where providers shape the offer of their own point, create their own offer maps, propose their own tourist routes and add interesting points to the map themselves. With the consent of the point's provider, a destination provider can use an individual contribution for the offer of a map they create themselves. This approach reduces the risk of overloaded maps, which become cluttered and hard to read due to too many points.
On SKL, we presented a proposed map of Velenje's cultural heritage, natural attractions and sports facilities under "Places to See", showing how we envision the presentation of a point on the map as an entry point to information that should be created by a professional group, which is also the keeper of the information about that point. At this stage, agreements with such groups are needed, along with a financing model for creating the destination's public offer. A basic point presentation of this kind could be, for example, Velenjski grad, where data entry and editing can be supported for the responsible museum or for a chosen administrator who manages the data on its behalf. With our own production and materials, we demonstrated an entry point; how to take it further still needs to be agreed. Such agreements should be initiated by the holder of the destination offer, who selects the offer points and organizes the creation of the information.
Legal entities in the municipality's territory may need to be given a financial incentive to step into SKL, while it is certainly advisable for the destination provider to take care of presenting nature itself and the cultural heritage offer.
