The Lovrenc Lakes are one of the most picturesque excursion spots with unique nature. A simple hiking trail that, despite its simplicity, rewards you richly.
A walk across a soft carpet of meadow turf. Endless greenery. The caress of fresh air.
The Lovrenc Lakes are the largest high moor in Slovenia and one of the most important in southern Europe, which is why they are a specially protected part of the largest Slovenian forest reserve. The picturesque lakes are certainly also a reason why Rogla is so well visited in summer too.
Hiking: one of the most beautiful Slovenian trails
The Lovrenc Lakes, also called the Lovrenc Pearls, are undoubtedly just that – a pearl of natural beauty. The pleasant hiking trail to the Lovrenc Lakes leads across the Rogla plateaus, through a quiet forest, and rewards us endlessly with a view of the strongly green dwarf pine, through which the little lakes peek, in which white water lilies bloom in summer.
Description: The Lovrenc Lakes are small lakes and bog windows on the Pohorje peat bog. The little lakes lie on an area of about 16 ha between Planinka (1392 m above sea level) and Mulej's Peak (1533 m above sea level) in the headwaters of the Radoljna, Mislinja and Velka streams. The little lakes are hollows with a surface of a few square meters and depths of up to 1.2 m. After the abandonment of grazing they are being overgrown by dwarf pine, which on both sides of the bog transitions on the steeper and well-drained slope into spruce forest. There are between 11 and 22 little lakes, depending on the extent and persistence of standing water. The highest-lying little lake is at an altitude of 1529 m above sea level, and the lowest at an altitude of 1517 m above sea level.
By the highest-lying little lake stands a wooden observation tower. The Lovrenc Lakes are a natural and tourist attraction of Pohorje. From the hotel on Rogla there is a maintained and marked easy walking trail.
