Robanov Kot, which boasts a centuries-old tradition of coexistence between nature and humankind, is a unique glacially shaped valley. It stretches 5 km long and 400 m wide, from the cirque beneath Ojstrica to the confluence of the Bela stream with the Savinja. The valley floor is covered with natural alluvial materials, while the surrounding slopes rise up to the peaks of Strelovec, Ojstrica, Veliki vrh and other high summits, where there is a rich flora and fauna. The valley is also part of the European Natura 2000 area and is of key importance for the conservation of endangered species and their habitats.
In addition to its natural beauty, Robanov Kot also has a cultural heritage: homesteads such as the Bevšek farm, with its characteristic farm building and plague memorial. At the Bevšek Ošep tourist farm visitors are pampered with home-made food, while the Pečovnik – Ošep tourist farm offers pleasant lodging in apartments. The Govc-Vršnik farm is known for its excellent food and hospitable surroundings, where time always seems too short. In addition to livestock breeding and forestry, the Roban farm still preserves the old customs of beekeeping, hunting and Alpine pasturing. Here hikers can enjoy tasty food and a starting point for the climb to Ojstrica and other summits. Besides the mentioned farms, there are also Vršnik, Havdej and Knez nearby, where they raise sheep of the prized Solčava – Jezersko breed.
With respect for nature and the work of the locals, you arrive as a welcome visitor, because you:
