Veliki Rogatec (1557 m above sea level, Gornji Grad - Luče), also known as Veliki Rogac or Mrtvi menih (the Dead Monk), is a scenic mountain. From the summit, where a cross with a wishing bell stands, there is a fine view of neighbouring Lepenatka, nearby Kranjska reber and Velika planina, as well as the central Kamnik-Savinja Alps, where Ojstrica stands out. To the north, Raduha and the valley of the Savinja river below it can be seen as if on the palm of your hand. To the east, an extensive view opens onto Styria, while to the south, nearby, you can see Menina planina rising above Gornji Grad.
The trails are marked from the directions of Kanolščica (Gornji Grad), Luče and from the Črnivec pass. The trail is marked from the bivouac onwards, but poorly secured, so the climb from the bivouac is not recommended for anyone without climbing experience. The trail from Špeh is less demanding and suitable for the less experienced.
The name Veliki Rogatez was already mentioned on the old Austrian military map from the 18th century.
